AED is a life saver in cases of Sudden Cardiac Arrest — Dr Aditya Kapoor, Head, Cardiology, SGPGI, Lucknow

Lucknow, 26 December : The inauguration and demonstration of the Automated External Defibrillation (AED) machine were successfully held today at the City Montessori School, Gomti Nagar Extension Campus auditorium. On this occasion, Prof. Aditya Kapoor, Head of the Cardiology Department at SGPGI, Lucknow, inaugurated the AED machine and provided comprehensive insights into its purpose, usage, and operation. While demonstrating the AED machine, Dr. Kapoor emphasized that it is a lifesaving device for heart attack patients. Cardiac arrest can occur at any time, regardless of age. In such cases, the AED machine proves highly effective in saving lives. Dr. Kapoor suggested that installing this machine in schools, offices, malls, railway stations, airports, and other public places would be extremely beneficial. On this occasion, Dr Kapoor also explained the correct method of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to CMS students, teachers, and staff members and demonstrated the correct way to conduct it on a patient.

            Earlier, CMS Manager, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon warmly welcomed Dr. Aditya Kapoor and the attendees. On this occasion, Prof. Kingdon highlighted that cardiac arrest is a harsh reality of our times, and even a minute’s delay in such cases can be fatal. Considering the necessary measures required in situations of sudden cardiac arrest, CMS has decided to install AED machines across its campuses. She stated, “We believe it is essential to raise awareness and provide accurate information about such life-saving measures, especially to students and the younger generation, to ensure that lives can be saved in time.” Senior Principal of CMS Gomti Nagar Extension Campus, Ms. Manjit Batra, said that CMS has always been highly sensitive to the health and well-being of its students, teachers, and staff. The installation of AED machines is a step in this direction. Principal Mrs. Sangeeta Banerjee expressed her gratitude to the CMS management for installing AED machines in the school to ensure immediate treatment for students and teachers.
