Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Kalraj Mishra inaugurates Model United Nations today at CMS

Lucknow, 20 July : The two-day Model United Nations Conference organised by City Montessori School, Chowk Campus was inaugurated today. Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Kalraj Mishra, Governor of Rajasthan formally inaugurated the conference by lighting the lamp. In his address delivered on this occasion, Shri Kalran Mishra said that CMS students are imbued with values of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam which resonates deeply in Model United Nations Conference, fostering a spirit of global citizenship, unity and cooperation among delegates. It encourages them to work together to address presing issues, transcending all boundaries. CMS Manager Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon while welcoming the Chief Guest and other eminent guests, said that students should strive to form their own opinions and perspectives, rather than simply mimicking those of leaders. By doing so, they deveop critical thinking skills and they are able to contribute meaningfully to discourses. Guest of Honour, Dr. Dheeraj Sanghi, Vice-Chancellor, L K Laxmipat University, Jaipur and CMS President, Dr Roger David Kingdon also motivated the students.

            It may be noted that the 2-day Model United Nations (MUN) conference is being organized on 20th and 21st July at the premises of CMS Chowk Campus, in which around 300 students from various reputed schools are participating. After the opening ceremony, simulation of the UN was witnessed at CMS-MUN as formally dressed student delegates headed to their respective rooms to deliberate upon various agendas defined by the committees.It is a student-led initiative where students from all the school teams participate as delegates or executive board members," said Amra Qidwai a student of CMS Chowk, who is heading the International Press Committee of the MUN.Many committees like the United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Security Council, United Nations Commission on status of Women, United Nations Human Rights Council,  United Nations Environmental Programme, International Press, All India Political Parties Meet and Joint Crisis Committee were simulated to deliberate on issues”, she said.

            Convener of the MUN and Principal, CMS Chowk Campus, Mrs Aditi Sharma expressed happiness at the participation of the youth in the conference and laid stress on including the viewpoint of the youth in diffusing global crises. Public Relations Officer of CMS, Mr Rishi Khanna said that discussions among the student participants in MUN will continue tomorrow on Sunday, 21st July.
